  Electronica My Love...

Manifesto :

I guess it started with my parents... They bought us Tomita records... My brother and I would constantly listen to them when we were little.

Of course later there was Art of Noise, Andreas Vollenweider, Jean Michel Jarre and some Kraftwerk...

Somewhere in 1988 I went on a trip with my parents and brother. In one of the hotels we met some English people our age. At night we would go to our room and listen to music. It was then that I was introduced to Acid House. It blew me away! I found the music I had unknowingly always been looking for. I was amazed to find out wat could be pulled out just a Roland 808 and 909.

Later back home I started hunting down the newly found music... I think I first bought "Emotions Electric" by "A Guy Called Gerald" when I heard that record, I was filled with excitement that has never left me when listening to beautiful electronica.

After searching here and there for stores that would actually consistently stock this music I bumped into a shop called "Twist and Shout" in Utrecht (the Netherlands) that specialised in alternative music. Yep, techno was alternative music... Anyway it al started at that shop, Thursday the shop would close and the new shipment would be unpacked. Pure heaven! Labels like Transmat, Metroplex, KMS, Fragile and the other Detroit records with the NCS etching where always exciting. Was it Carl Craig who once gave a definition of techno being "music like you have never heard before"?

Anyway, enough sentimental...

My manifesto...

I have collected a vast amount of special, often hard to find records. I have never DJ ed or played records in public any other way. I do believe that there is a huge amount of music in my collection that will not make it on the dance floor and will therefore only be heard when played by music lovers. These are the B-Sides of well known records and record unknown to online music stores. Some of them will be never re-released because masters have been destroyed or the record companies that released them have vanished. Anyway, beautiful listening music that doesn't appear on any compilations... On the other hand there's some great available music that doesn't get enough exposure...

So if you are into beautiful electronic music... OK... Let's give it a label : Techno Electro IDM Electronica House whatever even Triphop...

then this is your site. I will start with a weekly PodCast called postFutura and I will take it from there.

That's it for now...

Paul
